Sarcoma Awareness Month 2025

Sarcoma Awareness Month 2025 takes place every July, uniting patients, families, clinicians, and researchers to raise awareness of one of the rarest forms of cancer — sarcoma.

Sarcoma is rare – but that’s excuse for silence.

This year, we focus on early diagnosis, better treatment options, and stronger support for patients and their loved ones.

Watch the video above to understand the deadly disease and how people are working together to change outcomes and improve lives.

What Is Sarcoma?

Sarcoma is a rare type of cancer that develops in the body’s connective tissues — including muscle, bone, nerves, fat, and blood vessels. There are more than 100 different types of sarcoma, but they are generally grouped into two main categories:

  • Soft tissue sarcoma
  • Bone sarcoma (osteosarcoma)

Because sarcomas can occur almost anywhere in the body, they are often difficult to diagnose. Symptoms can vary depending on where the tumour develops — sometimes appearing as a painless lump, swelling, or persistent pain.

Early recognition is crucial. When detected early, sarcoma can be treated more effectively through surgery, radiotherapy, and targeted therapies.

Why Sarcoma Awareness Month 2025 Matters

Each year, around 4,000 people in the UK are diagnosed with sarcoma — that’s about 1% of all cancers, yet awareness remains strikingly low. Many people, including healthcare professionals, may not recognise the early signs.

Sarcoma Awareness Month 2025 aims to:

  • Raise awareness of sarcoma symptoms and risk factors
  • Encourage early diagnosis through education and outreach
  • Support research into new treatments and clinical trials
  • Empower patients and families to share their stories and find community

By highlighting real experiences and expert insights in the awareness video above, we hope to drive greater understanding and compassion for those affected.

Recognising the Signs of Sarcoma

Key sarcoma symptoms to look out for include:

  • A lump that is growing, firm, and painless
  • Persistent bone pain, especially at night
  • Swelling or tenderness that doesn’t go away
  • Unexplained weight loss or fatigue

If you notice any of these symptoms, it’s important to speak to your GP and ask whether it could be sarcoma. Early testing can save lives.

Take Action This July

This Sarcoma Awareness Month 2025, help spread the message:

  • Watch and share our awareness video to educate others.
  • Wear yellow or the sarcoma ribbon to show your support.
  • Donate or fundraise for sarcoma research organisations such as Sarcoma UK or Cancer Research UK.
  • Share your story online using hashtags like #SarcomaAwarenessMonth, #SarcomaStrong, and #KnowSarcoma.

At Health Analytical Solutions, we collaborate with MedTech innovators, NHS partners, and research organisations to improve diagnostics and data-driven care for rare cancers like sarcoma.
